DST is ever concerned with serving the industry by passing on vital information regarding OSHA standards. Here is a recent bulletin:

In March 2012 , the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) revised its Hazard Communication Standard. The revised standard, to be fully implemented by 2016, is now aligned with the United Nation’s global chemical labeling system. This revision establishes consistent labels and safety data sheets for all chemicals made in the United States and imported from abroad.

Major changes to the standard center around the classification, labeling and safety data sheets (SDS) of hazardous and toxic chemicals. These changes significantly affect chemical manufacturers and distributors. However, by December 1, 2013, funeral establishments will be required to train employees on the elements of the new standard and the new format for Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Furthermore, funeral homes are required to update their written Hazard Communication Program by 2016.

In-depth information can be found at http://www.osha.gov/dsg/hazcom/index.html. This OSHA site includes links to OSHA’s revised Hazard Communication Standard and guidance materials such as Q and A’s, an OSHA fact sheet and Quick Cards.
