for Localized Exhaust Ventilation

The recent NFDA study, Formaldehyde Vapor Reduction in the Funeral Home Preparation Room, recommends the use of LEV, localized exhaust ventilation, in the preparation room. Used in conjunction with other measures, the report states that an LEV device will “enhance the effective operation of the general ventilation system.”

The report goes on to emphasize that “the primary objective of the ventilating system is to remove formaldehyde vapors from the breathing zone of the embalmer.”

Duncan Stuart Todd, Ltd. offers PrepArm as a solution for exhausting air from a localized source. Here is what one of our clients has to say:

“We are very pleased that PrepArm was introduced into our funeral home. It has enhanced safety measures for our technicians. Our general HVAC system does turn air over quite frequently but the PrepArm eliminates my concern over what I call “formaldehyde bursts” at the point of injection. It also eliminates exposure from other potential formaldehyde bursts such as when gravity injecting the abdominal and thoracic cavities. Another benefit is that it helps provide additional protection when the technician is working near any formaldehyde or pre/post embalming chemicals. We also appreciate how quietly the unit operates.”
